Madrid Free Tour

We signed up for this free tour to know more about the city, although we thought we've been most of the places, but no harm checking it out again. We are brought to Sobrino de Botin, a restaurant established in 1725 and listed as Guinness Book of Records as the oldest eatery in the world.

Free tour, and the restaurant:

The cross in this area represents that it was closed some years ago to prevent bad social influence like drugs and robbery that's rising, and it's reopen. The tour guide also spent some time explaining the passed kings of Spain, seems like it's true that not many countries love their history.

Closed area and volunteers for "Kings":

This looks like another usual street in town, but during a king's wedding in 1906, an anarchist bomb launch from this apartment in front of us killed 28 people. By the number of death, this is the third most tragic fact in the history of Madrid.

Apartment where the bomb is released and the statue of memorial:

Next, we have Palacio Real de Madrid, which is the official resident of King of Spain but it's only used for state ceremonies. It is the largest palace in Europe by floor area and contains 2800 rooms! Opposite is the first bronze statue with the horse standing on 2 legs of King Philip IV, where weight issue resolved by the great Galileo.

The famous breakfast snack in Spain is churros, where bread stick (taste like 油炸块) dipping into hot chocolate. The tour guide gave us some time in the famous shop to try it ^_^. Then we're here at the symbol of the town, the bear statue, where you must take your picture with to proof that you've been in Madrid.

Most of the souvenir in shops are bear & tree:

"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone."
-Psalms 118:22

Without the guide, most of the stuffs in Madrid are just random and mere buildings to me, without realizing the meaning and story behind it. This reminds me that everyone has a story behind his/her life, events has a meaning to be done. Pray that The Lord guide me through life to understand and learn from his great plans, Amen.
