1st time in Genting Highland

It was the 2nd day where I ended my exam (20th Jan). I walked to Uni to take away roti telur and roti susu for dinner. There's nobody at home except me and Audri. On my way back to my house, I met my coursemates Lynn, William and Charly in a car waiting for Chris for dinner just in front of the bridge. I stopped by to chat a while and ended up being in the car. Charly and William just finished their last paper, so they're quite excited.

Although I took away roti for dinner, I followed them to Restaurant 52 for dinner, and that's a BIG dinner. They're talking about going to Genting Highland at night, and asked me and Chris to joined. I knew it's going to be time consuming and it'll drain all my energy, but since I'm in holiday mood, I agreed. So we left Semenyih at 10.30 p.m, William was driving.

They said it's going to be 2 hours drive until we reach Genting, but honestly the journey isn't that long as I thought. Spending time talking with coursemates can be fun, although I don't know them that well yet. The road up to Genting is really tough, William is really good for being able to get us up safely.

We arrived Genting at 12p.m something. It wasn't as cold as I expect (since I'd been to Mt.Kinabalu) but I really LOVED the breeze and the haze. Since it's my first time at Genting, they brought me around to have a look, but basically most of the shops are closed. They are really excited with the cars around there... (I have no sense of car, so it's OK for me). Then we had a drink at Starbucks.

Oh ya, I discovered something fun. By using flash to take pictures, the haze somehow turned out to be snowy in the pictures, looks like UK. It feels so good to enjoy ourselves in "UK" after exam.

Everyone is so excited meeting this thing...

In Starbucks:

Everone's satisfied and we returned at 3a.m. Something unpleasant happened on the way back, William's car ran our of refrigerant, and the temperature of the car risen. We stopped after the 2nd toll, refilled the refrigerant with drinking water and waited for a while (there goes another chatting session).

The car somehow performed quite stable, but we stopped at a nearby petrol station to add water , and sat down to have some chating again. Luckily the whole car are Mechanical Engineers (soon to be), I think I'm the only one that doesn't know how to handle the situation.

Well, I never knew that so many things can happen in one night because of taking away dinner from the cafeteria. Finally, we reached home safely at 5a.m. Isaiah 55:9 says "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your thoughts." LORD, thanks for blessing my journey and this little time of fellowship with my coursemates in Genting, the way You plan is really amazing. I pray for the people that are back to their respective places gathering with their family, pray that they will have a good time to strengthen their relationship and also break down the misunderstanding or barrier in between. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

旧伤 (Demo)

Finally, I made up my mind to post this. It's the main reason that I wanted to start a blog, but am never brave enough to do it (no guts). After wandering around for 18 years in my life without a target, I found one. One that takes a lot to realize, one that has nothing to do with my life, or rather "out" of my life stream. That's why it's called "dream".

OK, stop the crap. Anyway, I wrote this song <旧伤> in Jan 2007. I don't have the right word to translate it into English, somehow it means hurt/wound/injury that happened long time ago. Actually I do have one on my shoulder, because of playing badminton. It's one of my song that I did both music and lyrics myself.

So, where did I get the inspiration to write this song? Long time ago even before I wrote this song, I promised myself, I won't tell this to anyone, and I'm not telling here neither. It is a period of my life where I experienced a great downfall, so far it's the worst feeling I ever had in my life, far more worse than this exam (exam is only stress and nervous). Besides, I don't want to turn this blog into those kind of "emo" blog. I tried so long and so hard to change my personality, so just let me keep it for myself.

I don't care anyone out there who wants to criticize me, in another hand, you're welcome to give me a bomb! I'm used to it, I admit my literature, vocal and piano sucks. Oh ya, I seriously need a lyricist, I'm bad in language.

曲:Adam Jong
词:Adam Jong

Verse:
一直都是这样 一直都好不起来
长久以来的伤 习惯了也哭不出来
回想当时情况 为何会这样失败
都说了别逞强 却不停地往下踩

Climb:
还以为时间能够冲淡一切
教训自己可要小心一些
但是人总对待自己不体贴
最后旧伤口破裂

Chorus:
能不能就爱自己多一点
不要再给自己放暗箭
不是不够时间
是没有给自己空间

能不能尝试让自己改变
不要再让自己有危险
人总要自我赦免
才是旧伤痊愈的关键

Bridge:
别 别再戴着固执的面具
心情不会永远都下雨
旧伤不久之后就会痊愈

"Rap":

Chorus:
能不能就爱自己多一点
不要再给自己放暗箭
不是不够时间
是没有给自己空间

我已经学着让自己改变
不会再让自己有危险
只要抛开从前
我的旧伤就快要复原

In Isaiah 50:7. "Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be dismayed. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do His will. And I know that I will triumph." LORD, thinking back of the hard time, thanks for being with me. I pray that You show me my purpose, and if the hint is already in front of me, please let me see it. If it is Your calling that tell me to do so, I will go for it, with all of my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Nottingham War 1

It' been such a long while since I did a blog post. Finally, I finished all 5 papers and can have a peace of mind. Overall, I didn't do well and I'm ready for terrible results. Base on my analysis, the causes are:

  • Design projects that kept me busy throughout the 12 study weeks.
  • Lab sessions that are all cramped at the end of the semester, gonna rush the reports.
  • Not used to the way of lecturers giving lectures.
  • Not confident enough to determine how to solve a question thus draging it too long.
  • I'm never good enough to be good.
At least, the idea of running away is not haunting me anymore. It doesn't matter what result I get, just live a good student life and complete my degree, that's all. My mum already told me not to work so hard, she doesn't mind whatever result I get as long as I keep myself well. When I reach the age to work, the glory of the past won't really bring much satisfaction (That's so ture).

Anyway, I'm planning some new strategies to deal with my second semester. It doesn't mean I'm letting my guard down, I'm still gonna give it all for the next sem (Haha, that's the spirit). Have to be like the card "Reborn", eventhough I'm down for once, but it's never too late to stand up again.

OK, after today's paper finished at 11.30 a.m, our whole house went to Broga restaurant. Isaac brought along the "yu sang" (鱼生) to "lou" (捞) there. Guess what will the other customers there think about us. Met some classmate there too, all of us are quite relief and happy(?).

Our "family":

Classmates at the next table:

Then, according to our schedule, we should clean the whole house inside out. We did not do any cleaning since Christmas because of the exam (argh...). So, we spent the first hour cleaning our own rooms, then we'll do whatever with the house and outside. It took us about 3 hours, but the outcome worths it. I even changed my furnitures setting in my room, it looks bigger now.

Our house is so clean now:

Pity Teng's car, become shoe rack while cleaning outside:

And my room:

Wow, exam is done, room is clean, and after a hot water bath, kimochi~ Gonna treasure this 2 weeks of holiday before the 2nd semester starts. Time to reshape myself from the exam pressure!

It's writen in Isaiah 49:10, "I have refined you but not in the way silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering." Indeed, human will change when the condition is critical. This is one of things that blinded me before I know Him, wondering why all the troubles keep coming to me, why I should suffer so much. Somehow, I slowly learn that the world don't revolve on me, there are worse situations out there, everywhere. But only through suffering, we will grow, and fear not, God is always there, we're never alone. Thanks God for blessing me through the hard way. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

I Made My Own Dinner!

I'm going to have Mangement Studes A paper on Monday, it's a theory plus accounting paper. Luckily I took Principle of Accounting during SPM, but the theory memorizing is killing me! I did bad on the first paper, and I don't have high hope in this as well...

So, it's another Saturday. Hinn, Audri and Isaac had their dinner after gym session. Whereas I'm entertaining a classmate that came to ask for solutions. It's already 9p.m without noticing, and I don't feel like walking all the way to uni's canteen for dinner. Besides, most of the food will be sold out at this time.

I remembered I bought a pack of frozen pizza at The Store for emergency situation, and this gonna be it. I'll be the first one to test the microwave in our house *imagine no one ever dare to use it for this whole semester*. Don't worry, it's not my first time using a microwave, but indeed my first time to activate a microwave with a self-determined reason.

I followed the instruction... it says take off the plastic wrapping of the pizza, and defrost it in the microwave for 5-6 mintues, then cook it in the oven for 5 mintues. But what's the difference between oven and microwave =.= Well, not really thinking too much, I defrost it first, which is heating it in the microwave for 5 mintues. Theoretically I should cook it for another 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, I took it out from the microwave and had a look. It smells just like Domino's Pizza! For safety purpose, I let Audri and Hinn to check on it, and it is certified to be edible. So, I think I did defrost and cooking together, oven and microwave have no difference after all.

The sad thing is, I'm gonna have my pizza with all my notes around me. Nevermind, to diminish the exam atmosphere, I'll just blog about this while eating pizza. It looks really nice, except the bread part is a bit hard and they have some chillis on it (gonna scrub these terrible red things out).

In Isaiah 39:5-6, prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah, "Listen to this message from the LORD Almighty: The time is coming when everything you have - all the treasures stored up by your ancestors - will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD." Even a king that owns millions of treasures can lost everything if it is God's will. I admit that I had a downtime because of the last paper, and it's still there, but if that's a lesson that God planned so that I realize something, I'll take it. Just have faith that it will be the best for me. Sorry to dissapoint those that has certain expectations on me, I don't thing I can do it this time... Amen.

Exam is Here

Hate to know that tomorrow (Thursday) is my first exam in Nottingham University. I haven't experience the exam environment here yet, hope it's not too big difference compare to Nilai UC. My last paper is on 19th Jan, what a long way to go *sigh*.

I had gone through 7 semesters in Nilai UC, means 7 final exam had I taken. However, not any of the exam is as stressful as this one, not even the graduating one! Study week before exam somehow implies "holidays" to me, but not anymore. I spent all my time studying (except for the christmas break in Nilai) until I slept so late every night, but wasted a lot of time on animes and badminton though. The saddess thing is, I still have no confident for the exam.

Still enjoying even it's exam week in Nilai UC:

The 5 subjects of this semester are really killing me. The time of the papers are as below:
  • Differential Equations & Calculus - 08 Jan 09
  • Management Studies A - 12 Jan 09
  • Structural Vibration 1 - 14 Jan 09
  • Thermodynamics 2 - 15 Jan 09
  • Solid Mechanics 2 - 19 Jan 09
Even for the easiest paper (math) that is tomorrow morning, I had a hard time resolving the pass year papers. Besides, I haven't start studying for Management and Solid! Because I'm having the two toughest subjects, Vibration and Thermo papers 2 days in a roll. Argh! It's just killing me!

I can't deny that studying under pressure made me think of escaping again, just like during A-level time. I surfed around Monash University and Inti UC websites, actually there're still time to register... Haiz, when it comes to this kind of questions, I'll force myself not to think about it. Honestly, I don't know what I'm talking now, quite blur and worried.

Some ex-highschool classmates are back in KK for their holidays (Wennie, Edwin, Arthur and Jeremy). Well, I don't mind not being back this time, just wish that they enjoy their time... while facing this big challenge of mine.

Isaiah 33:2, But LORD, be merciful to us, for we have waited for you. Be our strength each day and our salvation in times of trouble. LORD, please give me the wisdom to go through all of this, just like how you had blessed me in Nilai UC. Also, I pray for fellow graduates from Nilai UC who are finding jobs or looking for further studies (Tze, Shaun, Wetex, Jason and Ivan), please be with them. I believe if we continue stay close to Him, we'll meet one day, for sure. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Water Leaking

I never thought of my 29th post of this blog, also the first post in 2009 is a post about my unlucky day. As usual, I almost slept the whole morning (woke up at 11a.m), and continued some revision with the pass year questions. My target for the day is to complete 3 sets of pass year questions!

Me, Hinn and Isaac walked to uni to have lunch at the cafeteria. When we're just about to walk back home, it started to rain. We hang out at the convenient shop in SA building and have a ice-cream, hoping the rain will be softer or even stop. So... we finished the ice-cream, and the rain didn't stop, but we walked back home just like that.

A bigger surprise is still waiting for us. Isaac found that the ceiling of the bathroom upstairs has water leaking, and also from a light at the master bedroom. The water mass flowrate is incredible *bam bam *. It's still unsure whether it's from the rain or from the water tank.

With this unexpected visit of "natural" disaster, we quickly posted for a few shots with it (these are engineers...). Don't waste such an opportunity. I'm amazed by my camera, I don't know what I did with the settings but it can catch flowing waters into spheres of water drops *Wow*。 Maybe it's giving a hint that this year we will be wealthy. 新年遇水灾,财源滚滚来,如果不旺财,桃花朵朵开。*kidding only*

We contacted the landlord, he told us to find someone to fix it, and deduct the cost from the rental (luckily he's responsible enough for that). For safety purpose, we switched off the main swith to prevent electrocution, and waited the landlord's agent to come to check out the situation. Meanwhile, we played cards again since we got nothing to do. Our pass year questions are all in pdf form which is inside our laptop (but actually we can put on battery, but just lazy).

After the person came to check it out, he said no problem, can fix. Then, we went to The Store to buy some stuffs, since our snacks are running out of stock. After that, Kitt called for badminton, and I went =.= We played from 6.00p.m until 9.00p.m, and went dinner together (finally I got back home at 10p.m something).

The sad thing is, after one whole day of going here and there, I didn't even finish 1 set of pass year question, it was hanging half way since I went out for lunch.. So, tonight I'm not going to sleep early until I finish at least one!

Isaiah 29:9, "Are you amazed and incredulous? Do you not believe it? Then go ahead and be blind if you must. You are stupid, but not from wine! You stagger, but not from beer!" It's useless to avoid problems as it will always be there; We are told to face it breavely God will show the way. Exam is approaching, I pray that we can achieve good results. Also for Nilai UC and Inti UC students, it will be a brand new start of semester. Pray that God will lead them throughout the semester and we will seek more of You. Amen.
