Invigilating + TGI

It's the last day of exam for this academic year. Sadly, the last paper is on Saturday evening 5pm - 8pm. But the good thing is, I'm not sitting for the paper, just invigilating the poor souls. My class has 106 Mechanical year 2 students, doing Solid Mechanics 2.

Arrived before the main invigilator:

In just a while, the other 2 invigilators arrived and we started distributing answer sheets and question papers. There goes the long-waited and long-waiting exam. I was looking at the questions, answer 5 out of 8 in 3 hours (quite similar to pass year some more). They sure are generous compared to answer 4 out of 5 in 2 hours during my time.

After the paper, Terrence is driving me and Maurice to TGI in Garden's for the CF farewell dinner. Not too much happened since almost has everyone eaten, then some goodbye speeches and gifts while a few of us late comers were eating.

Until I realize, the next thing is we're rushing for the last KTM back to catch the last uni shuttle bus. A very rushy night, but thanks God everything is done, for the undergrads, not me. My suffering continues as the weekend comes to an end.

Thank You Lord for bringing the undergrads through all these challenges, and finally face the day of liberty. May this coming holiday be an opportunity for them to grow closer and reach out for You. Also, bless me as I'm wrapping up my first year report. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Serpent In The House

A sudden message from my housemate in the evening, when I'm still in my office saying that our house has been intrude by a snake... a baby snake. What's funnier is, the whole snake got trapped in a bundles of cellophane tapes (why are there leftover tapes around the house?).

My housemate is kind enough to release it from the tape except the head part. He even gave it a name (Naga Siren), I hope he's not serious about keeping a "pet". I've touched a snake before, and I don't like the yucky feeling at all X_X.

Well, just to satisfy him, we took lots of picture of his victorious capture of serpent and finally let it go on that night. Nothing happens, and evil has been cast away from my dwelling place. Semenyih is indeed a better wild life environment than Nilai.

Exam period is stressing up a lot of students, but me and my housemate are more concern about our reports which will due very soon. Pray that everything will be fine in His guidance. Ultimately, let Your will be done. In Jesus I pray, Amen.

2nd Broga Hill Challenge

Charles stayed overnight on Friday as he's meeting his friends (from KL)to climb Broga Hill the next morning, at 5:30 am! I know it's crazy enough to do that, some more it'll be weekend, it was told that the place will be super crowded, but I did it.

I came here 2 years ago, and this is literally queuing up Broga Hill, I can't believe it until I really tried it. Even passing through the palm oil estate that should be 20 minutes or less took me more than 30 minutes. But this time, I see a solid sunrise, not like the last time, misty and hazy.

There are some changes, the final peak actually become more spacious and there are extra sign boards. The Malaysia flag sure is interesting. Out of 11 of us, only 7 made it to this peak, and 5 waited for our turn to take picture with the flag.

That's not the end of the surprise, I never knew there are stalls at the bottom (they're not there when we started). I thought I'm gonna wait quite long for the others to reach the bottom as I almost ran down the hill. Hey, but the coconut drink is actually quite nice.

After that, they asked me to bring them to Jia Xiang restaurant for lunch (I never knew this common lunch place could be that famous). They're still kinda active, and I brought them for a little tour in my uni.

8th Month of PostGrad

March and April are usually the crazy months of events, also implies that progress is pretty slow lately. Anyway, I wasted almost 1 month on Dynamics software analysis and ended up the code is still done perfectly yet. Troubleshooting program code is actually as hectic as rumors said.

Until I'm sorta fed up with that, I'm back to experimental analysis again (I thought I'm done with it). It's been so long since I touched my equipments in the lab, setting up new things at first was kinda disastrous (even clips appeared), but it sorta looks better now.

Improvement of LVDT installation:

Since then, endless vibration and data collecting started. It's stressful and tedious, but it'll be the best thing to do so that I have my night to spend with ConneXion/CF.

Comparing data from LabView and Oscilloscope:

Recently, a new component is added to my experiment family, a linear bearing that holds my whole rig so that it only slides vertically. This is so much helpful while I'm doing the 2 degree of freedom test on brick sample.

My lab is a hazardous environment, I'm constantly harassed by noise pollution. Sadly, I'm cutting the brick pieces myself too, so it's ear and finger pain everyday. So far, my rig manage to break small/medium size bricks (a little satisfaction that comforts me).

One more month til First Year Report submission date, and I'm feeling pretty bad right now. If I don't get through this stage, also means I can't go to UK, and the worst case scenario~ will be the word that I used most often... QUIT! *hopefully this is not my last PostGrad post*

Dinner at William's

A phone call from Wei Ern at 6:30pm for dinner, and I thought it was too early, til I found out that we're actually going to SS2 William's. Including the traffic jam, it almost took us 1 and a half hour to reach there from Semenyih.

It's my 2nd time here, and I knew that ordering food is never an easy thing here. There are just too many nice foods to choose from, and the other hardship is the price (aiks... everything's kinda pricey too). I ordered Lamb Burger (awesome!), and strawberry banana juice (sounds funny but nice).

They actually serve it very fast:

The others ordered almost 2 times, but I'm done with just that plate, really full. The recommended foods around are like Ribenna Special, Carbonara, meatball spaghetti and I personally like the beef bacon indo mee. We could sit there and chat whole night, and sharing foods.

We ended up staying there for almost 2 hours. Didn't now a dinner can be such long, then another long trip back to Semenyih. Everyone was like seriously tired, thanks for Joseph's undying spirit to drive us back safely.

It's a good refreshing time after the busy academic weeks, and a chilling session for those who are doing revision. Pray that God You bless them with healthy body and clear mind to prepare for the coming exams. With You, all things can be done, for a good reason. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Year 4 Project Exhibition

I was checking my email late night and noticed that I received a marking script for Year 4 Mechanical students' Group Design Project. Oh ya, it's their final project exhibition the next day and all research student and assistant will be invigilating. Stress... all of them were my classmates.

Basically my job is to go around every group and ask them to present their work, then give them marks accordingly (sounds easy). The first group designed a intake manifold which improves the horsepower of a car by almost 10%, just by playing with the mechanical design. Another group did a car tow that can be equipped on a bike.

Another one is easy and brilliant, a one handed pepper grinder, both manual and automatic. The prototype actually looks cute. Next, we had a group that design a program controller which will tell you whether your transfer function works by plugging in the parameters.

Then, there's an amphibian bicycle, by contacting the propeller to the wheel, cycling the bike is also pedaling on water. Finally, it's Nelson's group, which designed an more environment friendly air-cond (low power consumption). Look at their sponsors, cool.

In just a blink of eye, classes for this academic year have ended (not like I'm affected). Thanks God for bringing us through these troubles and trials. May You continue to uphold us as we continue the fight, and remind us the true reason why are all of us doing this. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
